A long week + a reminder

Last week we had a handful of appointments, with a full day on Thursday that was part planned outpatient chemotherapy at our cancer clinic and part radiation consultation with Texas Oncology. After another stretch where Nick was feeling especially fatigued last week after leading up to our Thursday morning appointment (where we learned hemoglobin counts were low), we’re starting to kind of learn what it feels like when we’ll likely need a transfusion. Some of us got to nap, while others had to entertain themselves in other ways…

Remembering to “document” our journey while Nick takes a nap in the clinic.

This time we needed more hemoglobin, adding an additional few hours to our day of other appointments, but since then Nick has been feeling relatively great. We had a really nice relaxing weekend at home and are ready to hit the ground running (to more appointments) this week.

Donate

During the first round of chemotherapy at the hospital we were originally needing some kind of transfusion every 2-3 days, and while our transfusions have slowed a bit since the beginning of this process, it’s still a reminder of how important it is to donate whole blood and blood products like hemoglobin and platelets. We will continue to need transfusions until at least we get our marrow/stem cell transplant. Please consider donating if you can.
